Runeon Terms of Service
Overview
These Terms are an agreement between you and Shi Jiachen (石 嘉晨), a Japan-based sole proprietor using the trade name CodeWave Seki Studio and operating Runeon. By using Runeon, creating an account, starting a trial, or subscribing, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Runeon.
If you use Runeon for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization. These Terms do not limit consumer rights that cannot be waived under the laws where you live.
What Runeon provides
Runeon is a macOS app that helps prepare and run a Runeon-managed Windows Steam container using a Steam Baseline runtime. Runeon records local compatibility evidence on your Mac and can create redacted diagnostics reports that you may choose to send for private support.
Runeon is distributed directly from Runeon-controlled websites and release channels, not through the Mac App Store unless we state otherwise. Runeon does not sell Steam, games, Apple Evaluation Environment, D3DMetal, or any DRM or anti-cheat bypass.
Runeon is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve, Apple, Wine, CodeWeavers, DXVK, DXMT, Khronos, Rockstar Games, or any game publisher unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
Accounts and eligibility
You may need a Runeon account to start a trial, subscribe, manage billing, or send optional diagnostics reports. You are responsible for keeping your account sign-in method secure and for making sure the information you provide is accurate.
Runeon is intended for users old enough to manage their own Steam account, install software, and enter a payment relationship. If the law where you live requires parental or guardian consent, you must have that consent before using Runeon.
Runeon may use device records to enforce trial eligibility, subscription access, fraud prevention, and device limits.
License
Subject to these Terms and your subscription status, Runeon grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Runeon app for personal or internal use. Runeon is licensed, not sold.
Third-party components included with Runeon remain governed by their own licenses. See the Licenses page for notices and source-offer information.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Using your own Mac, Steam account, and games that you own or are authorized to use.
- Obtaining Apple Evaluation Environment or D3DMetal components from your own local Apple-provided installation when setup requires them.
- Complying with Steam, game publisher, Apple, payment provider, and platform terms that apply to you.
- Not using Runeon to bypass DRM, anti-cheat, account security, regional restrictions, access controls, or publisher requirements.
- Not uploading credentials, private keys, Steam tokens, session cookies, or other secrets to Runeon support.
- Keeping backups of files, games, saves, and local data that are important to you.
Subscriptions, trials, and billing
Runeon uses subscription access. Current app pricing is USD $4.99 per month or USD $48 per year, with a 14-day trial. The checkout screen and billing portal show the actual plan, price, tax, renewal period, trial terms, and currency available to you.
An active trial or paid subscription is required to launch Steam through Runeon. Runeon may allow local setup or runtime preparation before subscription activation, but the paid launch action is blocked when entitlement is expired or missing.
If you start a paid plan or a trial that renews into a paid plan, the subscription renews until cancelled. Payments, invoices, subscription changes, payment method updates, cancellation, and renewal management are handled through Stripe Checkout and Stripe Customer Portal. Stripe handles payment details; Runeon does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
Cancellation and refunds
You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Runeon app's billing portal link. If you cancel a paid subscription, access usually continues until the end of the current paid period unless Stripe, applicable law, or a written support decision says otherwise. Trial access may end when the trial expires, is cancelled, or is no longer eligible.
Refunds are provided where required by law or payment provider rules. Runeon may also choose to issue refunds case by case, but compatibility problems do not create a guaranteed refund unless the law requires one. If your region gives you a cooling-off, withdrawal, cancellation, or refund right that cannot be waived, that right still applies.
Compatibility, third-party services, and updates
Runeon does not guarantee that every game, launcher, DRM system, anti-cheat system, online service, or future game update will work. A local smoke test, support diagnosis, or user screenshot is not a promise that the same title will work for all users, hardware, macOS versions, Steam versions, runtime versions, publisher updates, or future Runeon releases.
Steam, game launchers, game publishers, anti-cheat systems, macOS, Apple tools, and payment providers are third-party services or software outside Runeon's control. Their changes may affect Runeon even if Runeon has not changed.
Runeon may update the app, runtime, diagnostics rules, release feed, subscription logic, and support tooling to improve reliability, security, compliance, or compatibility.
Diagnostics and support
Compatibility records remain local-only. Diagnostics upload is optional and requires you to review and send a specific redacted report. Support may ask you to create or send a redacted diagnostics package. Support should not ask you for Steam passwords, Steam session cookies, private chats, friend lists, purchases, game saves, or screenshots of private content.
Runeon may reject, delete, or quarantine a diagnostics package if it appears to contain secrets, account tokens, raw private data, malware, abuse content, or data outside the intended redacted support scope.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use Runeon to violate another service's terms, evade account security, bypass payment, circumvent DRM or anti-cheat, or gain unauthorized access.
- Upload intentionally sensitive data, secrets, malware, unlawful content, or data you do not have rights to share.
- Abuse trial, device binding, subscription, billing, diagnostics, or support systems.
- Interfere with Runeon's services, overload hosted systems, reverse engineer hosted API access controls, or attempt to extract secrets from Runeon's backend.
- Redistribute Runeon, bundled runtime components, or release packages except where an included third-party license clearly allows that component to be redistributed separately.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Runeon at any time. Uninstalling the app does not automatically cancel a paid subscription; use the billing portal link in the app or contact support if you cannot access it.
Runeon may suspend or terminate access if payment fails, your subscription ends, you violate these Terms, you abuse diagnostics or support systems, or continued access would create legal, security, or service risk.
Disclaimers and liability
Runeon is provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the maximum extent allowed by law. Runeon does not guarantee uninterrupted access, universal game compatibility, continued third-party service behavior, or error-free operation.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Runeon is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, lost game progress, account actions by third parties, or compatibility changes caused by third-party updates. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Consumer rights and governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country or region provide different rights that cannot be waived. Nothing in these Terms limits those non-waivable rights.
Before starting a formal dispute, please contact support@runeon.app so we can try to resolve the issue. Courts in Japan will generally have jurisdiction, except where mandatory local law gives you another forum or right.
Changes and contact
Runeon may update these Terms as the product, subscription model, release process, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be posted on this page or communicated through the app or email where appropriate.
